DIY Make Up Looks-

Rashika Sherchan, make up artist at Lakme Studio, LABIM MALL, shows us two easy looks that brides can recreate themselves in a jiffy!

LOOK 1 – Day Look

Rashika says that this look is perfect for a bright and sunny day on the Janati (please correct the term. Some Nepali event or wedding term)

Step 1- The first step is to prep the canvas; aka your face. Before applying any sort of heavy make-up, you should cleanse, tone and properly moisturize your face. You don’t want a dry face which will make you uncomfortable after the make up has been applied.

Step 2- Before doing any makeup looks, always use a primer. Depending the type and tone of your skin, do select the correct primer.

Step 3- Apply foundation all over your skin and blend it well. To set the look use a setting powder. In my case I have used Laura Mercier’s Translucent Loose Setting Powder

Step 4- Once the base is ready, start with your brows. Depending on the shape and size of eyebrows, fill them in and then use a setting product like Benefit’s Give Me Brows.

Step 4- The eyes are always important. To start off always use an eye primer. But I prefer using a concealer as it works better. After that set it with a powder and your base is ready.

Step 5- Start with the eye shadow. Start with the transition color, which is blended in the crease. Moving onto the socket, use lighter shades as when you will apply to the lid, it will be easier to blend. For this look it has a copper brownish hue as it for a day event. There is some glitter as well. I use the same blend of the eye shadow, and apply it under the eye. It gives a very good look.

During the day it is not a good idea to go with a heavy look. On the day the bride leaves her house, there are tears involved, so always go for a lighter look with will not leave you looking like a raccoon. Also always use waterproof products!

Step 6- Go for a simple winged liner look and line your eyes with kohl as well.

Step 7-  Apply the false heavy eyelashes. For any make up look these help enhance the eyes. I think it is always a good idea for brides to invest in eyelashes.

Step 8-  Highlight your brow bone as it gives it an uplifted look. For this look I have used Champagne Pop by BECCA.

Step 9- Contour your face using the palette of your choice. For this look I have used Kat Von D’s Contour set.

Step 10- Use a soft baked blush, a pinky hued one as it gives the bride a flushed and dewy look.

Step 11-  For the lips, use a nice deep red lipstick with a matte finish.

Step 12-  For the hair, do a half updo to complete the look.

LOOK 2- Reception Look

Rashika says that this look is easy to recreate for the evening reception and you will look stunning.

Step 5- Start with the eye shadow. Start with the transition color, which is blended in the crease. Moving onto the socket, use lighter shades as when you will apply to the lid, it will be easier to blend. For this look it has a darker hue as it for the night event. The whole lid id then covered with golden glitter which will be perfect and heavy. I use the same blend of the eye shadow, and apply it under the eye. It gives a very good look.

Step 6- Go for a simple and slightly thick winged liner look and line your eyes with kohl as well.

Step 11-  For the lips, use a nice deep shade of lipstick with a matte finish. Select your color according to your skin tone and the final make up look

Step 12-  For the hair, make a neat judo/bun to complete the look.
